Cottage Pie
Cottage Pie and Shepherds Pie are similar, the only difference is that the Cottage Pie uses beef, and the Shepherds Pie uses lamb. We don't really eat lamb, so I made it with beef.
I got the recipe from one of my favorite recipe blogs Simply Recipes. The changes I made from the recipe are as follows:
- Instead of ground beef, I used cut up top round steak.
- For vegetables I used fresh corn and carrots, and frozen peas. I couldn't find any peas in the store.
- Instead of beef broth, which is usually made with veal bones, we opted for vegetable broth.
With the temperature still around freezing and snow on the ground this was a nice warm, and filling meal.

Y just made a Dutch/Indonesian version of this which they call schotel, I can get you the recipe if you're curious...
